OPI Vodka and Caviar

I got this nail polish from the grocery store I now work at because they have some OPI nail polishes and they're all cheaper than what you could get at a salon. I paid maybe 40 cents less?

I loved the color of this polish. It's a vibrant candy apple red. The name amuses me too. I hated the longevity of it. It did not last long at all. I notice I have been saying this about a lot of nail polishes I have gotten recently. I need to break this trend somehow. Anyways, it chipped like the 2nd day I had it on. It started to fade on a lot of the nails too during that time. I was so disappointed with this. I returned it and I got my money back though.

Overall I would not recommend this polish. I guess I will just have to search for another pretty candy apple red color till I find one that truly pleases me. It chipped very early which was something I was not happy with at all!

Nicole by OPI Enchantress

This has to be my favorite of the Nicole polishes simply because I feel like it lasts longer than all the others. I do have some things that I do not like about it though. Starting with, it's so sheer! You have to put on 3 coats and even after that it still seems so sheer! I am not a huge fan of sheer nail polishes. I like the polishes I use to have a good amount of color to them. So if this had more oomf to it I would definitely think that it's pretty much flawless. 

I do like the color though none the less. It has potential to be gorgeous color if only it were more pigmented? Is that the word to use to describe nail polish colors? pigmented? I don't know. Either way you know what I mean. haha. Well i do love that this polish does have some lasting power to it. Not as much as my OPI or China Glaze polishes. Even not as much as my Essie polishes. These usually run about $7-$8 a bottle. I am just not a huge fan of this polish unless it were more pigmented.

Overall: For $7 this polish is not worth it. You can get China Glaze at Sally's cheaper than that. Or for the same price you could get an Essie polish. I wouldn't really recommend it..

OPI Meet Me On the Star Ferry

This is my second OPI nail polish I have ever bought and I have to say I love this one a lot more than I love the first OPI polish I bought, Yodel Me On My Cell. For one, this polish didn't fade off at the tips after one day like Yodel Me On My Cell did. I was highly pleased with the application process too. It was very easy to apply, dried fairly quickly, and I didn't have any problems with streaking. 

I bought this at a local salon for half off since I bought the other OPI polish too. (They were buy one get on half off). I probably paid about $4.25 for it. Which I consider a good deal for an OPI nail polish even though I had to buy one at full price first. 

This color reminds me of a shimmery darker mauve? I am not exactly sure about how to describe this color. My mom described it as brown, but it's not exactly brown either. It does have a slight brown hue to it though. I'd say it's about a mix of some purple and brown, but in a pretty way.

Overall: I recommend getting this polish if this color is your style. It applied great and dried pretty quickly. I was way more satisfied with this OPI polish as compared to the other one I bought (Yodel Me On My Cell).

OPI Yodel Me On My Cell

This is the first legitimate OPI nail polish I’ve gotten besides the Black Shatter which I don’t count as a legitimate polish. I got this polish at a salon for buy one get one 50% off. I paid $8.50 for the full priced one. I have to say so far I think it’s worth the money. I only had to apply 2 coats before I got an opaque color. I love the color also! It’s this beautiful blue green color. I was very satisfied. I’m more of a frugal person when it comes to spending money so of course I do with these polishes were a little cheaper. If they price were slightly lower I would definitely be IN LOVE with these polishes but the price is what is really holding me back. I am going to buy a China Glaze nail polish at some point within the very near future and since China Glaze is slightly cheaper I am hoping I will be just as satisfied. I do already have 2 China Glaze nail polishes but they are both from the Poolside collection which as we all know never really got the best reviews. I will continue to buy OPI though when I feel like I am wanting one. I have to say though I may not buy them as often simply because it’s almost $10 for one polish. I was satisfied though.

Overall: I would recommend trying out OPI if you already haven’t, which I am sure you have. :P

UPDATE:

So after reviewing this product I was satisfied at the time. The next day rolled along and my polish had already chipped and faded at the tips. I don’t know if it was my top coat I’m currently trying or if it’s just not a good color to try, but I was so unhappy with it. I bought OPI’s Meet Me on the Star Ferry and I plan to try it sometime in the near future after I wear out this Essie Tart Deco polish I currently have on. I will review the other OPI polish I have and mention if I was as disappointed with it as I was this one. Until then… :)

OPI Black Shatter

OPI’s Black Shatter…I’m a little late to join the band wagon, but better late than never I guess. When I first tried this polish I was so excited! I immediately put it on over the Sinful Colors Mint Apple polish I already had on. I had no idea how exactly to use it, well I mean I had no idea of some certain tips I should follow. I put on a thicker coat of it than I realized I was really supposed to and the shatter pieces were really thick and didn’t looked very shattered at all. So at the time I was disappointed. Then, good ole’ Google came to use and I googled some tips on using the shatter. I learned that putting on a thinner coat and not wasting time caring about if you make mistakes are key to having a good shatter design. 

So I took to my nails again this time using a lighter coat and moving slightly quicker and ignoring minor mistakes. Success! It turned out wonderful, like it did in the picture above. I was so excited and happy with it but I think this polish will just be a fad for me. I’ll still continue using normal colors and not putting shatter on top and I guess on occasions I’ll use the shatter.

Key things to know when using this:

1. Ignore small mistakes and don’t waste time trying to fix them. The polish shatters so mistakes you make are just going to disappear and no one will even be able to tell.

2. Lighter coats are key. Just go over the area with one lighter coat and don’t try so hard to make the polish seem as opaque as possible. I tried to cover up every little tiny space of my nail with the shatter which was a mistake because it means I kept going over certain areas more and more which lead to thicker and less interesting shatter pieces.

Remember these 2 basic things and you’re set! Oh! and don’t forget the top coat because it looks more dull otherwise. Happy painting! :)
